The Art & Science of Taxidermy: The Raven

Learn industry techniques in this full mount raven three-day workshop.

Under the expert guidance of Teori Shannon, this workshop focuses on the process of preserving and mounting a bird. Scientific techniques covered include skinning, defleshing, skin preservation, body making and natural positioning.

Participants are encouraged to please bring a pencil/pen and notepad. Final specimens will be taken home on a wooden pedestal.

Please note: All materials are ethically sourced where possible. Chemicals used include borax, acetone and formalin.

Reptile Replica

Under the expert guidance of Teori Shannon, this Workshop focuses on the process of mould and casinting of reptiles.
Learning industrial techniques creating life-like reptile replicas for display.

Participants will learn basic reptile anatomy while being guided through the process of positioning their reptile specimen in a life like manner, learn how to create your own mould sutible for the specimen you are working on and how to create a cast from your specimen.

Participants are encouraged to bring along a pencil/pen and a notepad.

You will get to take you’re final reptile replica specimen & mould home with you.

All materials are supplied and ethically sourced where possible.

Toad Anatomy Wetspecimen

Under the expert guidance of Teori Shannon, this Workshop focuses on the process of Wet Specimen preservation.

Participants will learn, in depth toad anatomy while being guided through the process of praparing their specimen for wet preservation, displaying the toad and its anatomy in a scientific display to take home in a glass jar.

The final wet specimen will be displayed in a sientific jar for students to take home.

Participants are encouraged to bring along a pencil/pen and a notepad. Final practice specimens are taken home to be displayed in your shadow box

Students will additionally get to select one readymade insects to display in their shadowbox to take home.

Insect Preservation

Insect Preservation

Under the expert guidance of Teori Shannon, this workshop focuses on the process of preserving insects.

Participants will learn basic insect anatomy while being guided through the process of insect rehydration, specimen repair techniques for beetles, butterflies, moths and stick insects.

Pinning and displaying their specimens.

Participants are encouraged to bring along a pencil/pen and a notepad.

Students will get to preserve their very own, butterfly/moth beetle and stick insect

Final practice specimens are taken home to be displayed in your shadowboxes once dry.

Students will additionally get to select one readymade insect to display in their shadowbox to take home.
